Umbra is a private American space company that develops and operates a satellite constellation equipped with synthetic aperture radar (SAR). The company began its operations with the launch of the microsatellite Umbra-01 in June 2021.

The Umbra constellation can rapidly and consistently deliver high-resolution data for actionable intelligence by capturing images of the Earth’s surface day and night, even under 100% cloud cover. Umbra’s satellites enhance monitoring programs in maritime surveillance, land reconnaissance, defense, emergency response, and disaster management.
