BlackSky Gen-3
BlackSky Gen-3 is the next generation of BlackSky satellites, providing the highest image quality and enhanced observation capabilities. The hardware has been upgraded to achieve a spatial resolution of up to 35 cm, which is three times greater than the capabilities of the previous generation. By 2027, the company plans to have 16 such satellites in orbit.
Briefly about the main thing
Gen-3 satellites are capable of simultaneously collecting panchromatic and multispectral data in several spectral bands, which expands the range of possible applications—from high-precision mapping to environmental analysis and infrastructure monitoring. They are equipped with two cameras in the visible range (panchromatic and RGB with Bayer filter) and a separate SWIR camera, which enables the acquisition of data in the visible and near-infrared ranges.
The deployment of the Gen-3 constellation in orbit further increases revisit frequency and reduces data delivery time to customers, making BlackSky one of the most operationally responsive commercial Earth observation systems.
